Character Overview
In Wuthering Waves, Augusta is a 5-Stars Electro character and uses Broadblade during the fight.
Character Mechanism
Augusta’s Forte Circuit — Prowess, Ascendancy, and Majesty
First, Augusta’s Forte Circuit has three types of energy:
The purple one is called Prowess.
The icon in the center, which looks like Augusta’s solar crown, is called Ascendancy.
The two blade-like patterns facing outward are called Majesty.
Basic Attacks, Heavy Attacks, Resonance Skills, and Intro Skills all fill the purple bar, which is Prowess. When the purple bar is full, you can release an Enhanced Heavy Attack.
This Enhanced Heavy Attack, along with Basic Attacks, Heavy Attacks, Resonance Skills, Intro Skills, and Resonance Liberation, charges Ascendancy. When Ascendancy is full, you can use the Enhanced Resonance Skill, which involves riding a griffon, flying up, and then landing. There are three parts to this, and the final landing strike lights up one blade (Majesty). The other blade is lit up through the Outro Skill.
When both blades are lit, the Resonance Liberation icon turns into a sword with an orange glow around it. At this point, holding down the Resonance Liberation key activates a time stop, allowing Augusta to unleash a burst of attacks.
As for the Resonance Liberation icon with a colored border, it indicates that both the normal and Enhanced Resonance Liberation can be used. Tapping the Resonance Liberation key uses the normal version, while holding it uses the Enhanced version.
Enhanced Heavy Attack
Augusta’s Basic Attack has four segments, but you don’t need to complete all four. The first three segments are enough to fill the purple bar. When the Basic Attack icon lights up, you can hold down the Basic Attack key to use an Enhanced Heavy Attack. If you want to execute the Enhanced Heavy Attack as quickly as possible, press the Basic Attack key three times, and after the third strike, hold down the Basic Attack key. Augusta will jump and then land, immediately performing the Enhanced Heavy Attack.
The Enhanced Heavy Attack can be thought of as having two parts. The first part corresponds to stepping back. If you tap the Basic Attack key again or hold it down continuously after stepping back, Augusta will perform a derivative attack, which is the Spinslash. This Spinslash can only be triggered by stepping back. The step-back has a damage multiplier of only about 50%, while the Spinslash has over 400%.
This Enhanced Heavy Attack has a unique interruption compensation mechanism. If the first part (Backstep) is interrupted, you can still execute the second part (Spinslash). However, if the Spinslash itself is interrupted, there’s no way to recover it.
As mentioned earlier, besides using Basic Attacks to fill the purple bar, Resonance Skills and Intro Skills can also instantly fill it. This means the Spinslash can also be chained after a Resonance Skill or Intro Skill:
Resonance Skill + hold Basic Attack key + tap Basic Attack key
Intro Skill + hold Basic Attack key + tap Basic Attack key
However, it’s important to note that you cannot pre-hold the Heavy Attack key during a Resonance Skill. If you press the Resonance Skill key and immediately hold the Basic Attack key, Augusta will perform a normal Heavy Attack, executing an Uppercut and clearing the purple bar.
So, what is this Uppercut? It’s another type of Enhanced Heavy Attack for Augusta. Since its multiplier is lower than Backstep + Spinslash, it’s not commonly used, but it can be used to supplement damage in some rotations. There are four ways to trigger it. The point here isn’t to master all four, but to understand why you might suddenly jump into the air during combat.
When your purple bar is full, regardless of how it was filled, pressing the jump key will execute the Uppercut.
If you use a Resonance Skill, before performing any other action, the Resonance Skill icon will change. Pressing the Resonance Skill key again after the Resonance Skill will also execute the Uppercut. However, if you move even slightly, the icon will dim, and you can only trigger it by jumping.
The third method is the easiest to trigger accidentally. Augusta’s normal Heavy Attack (the spinning motion) refills half of the purple bar. If the purple bar fills up while you’re performing a normal Heavy Attack and you release the Basic Attack key, Augusta will automatically execute the Uppercut. This is the most common way to trigger it accidentally. While releasing the key quickly can avoid this, it’s very difficult to time precisely. So, remember: if you don’t want to trigger the Uppercut, avoid using Heavy Attacks to restore the purple bar.
The fourth method stems from Augusta’s unique dodge counter. Honestly, this special dodge counter feels like it might as well not exist. When the purple bar is full, Augusta’s dodge counter is automatically replaced with a normal Heavy Attack. For example, if you dodge and then tap the Basic Attack key, whether you tap or hold the key, Augusta will perform an Uppercut.
Considering the interruption compensation mechanism for Backstep + Spinslash, once the purple bar is full, immediately hold down the Basic Attack key to execute the Enhanced Heavy Attack. If interrupted, continue the chain. Try to avoid dodging when the purple bar is full.
There’s another special dodge counter: when the circle in the center of the Forte Circuit (Ascendancy) is full, the dodge counter becomes an Enhanced Heavy Attack, which is the Spinslash.
Ascendancy
Next, let’s look into the circle in the center of the Forte Circuit (Ascendancy). This is where Ascendancy is accumulated. A normal Resonance Liberation can restore 40% Ascendancy and is essential for the standard rotation.
When the circle is full, it lights up, resembling the glowing crown on Augusta’s head. At this point, the Resonance Skill icon turns purple with a griffon icon in the center. This is Augusta’s Enhanced Resonance Skill, which has three parts:
Riding the griffon for a charge.
Flying up into the air.
Landing.
The first part can only be activated by pressing the skill key. After the first part, whether you press the skill key again or the Basic Attack key, you can trigger the second and third parts of the Enhanced Resonance Skill.
Similar to the Enhanced Heavy Attack, the Enhanced Resonance Skill also has an interruption compensation mechanism. If interrupted early, you can restart it. If interrupted late, you can continue with the next part. Only after completing the third part will all Ascendancy (the charge in the center circle) be consumed, and one blade (Majesty) will be lit.
Note: Among these three parts of the Enhanced Resonance Skill, only the third part deals Heavy Attack damage. The first two parts deal Resonance Skill damage. Since Augusta is primarily a Heavy Attack-focused character, you need to execute all three parts of the Enhanced Resonance Skill.
Majesty and Enhanced Resonance Liberation
When both blades at the bottom of the Forte Circuit are lit, you can use the Enhanced Resonance Liberation. The difference between the normal and Enhanced Resonance Liberation is that the Enhanced version deals twice the total damage of the normal one. The normal Resonance Liberation follows an energy-based mechanism, meaning it works like other characters’ ultimates: it has a 25-second cooldown, and when the energy is full, you can use it. Generally, Augusta needs around 120% Energy Regen.
The Enhanced Resonance Liberation has its own icon and a 25s CD but doesn’t rely on energy. Instead, it requires both blades to be lit to unlock.
The colored icon indicates that both the normal and Enhanced Resonance Liberation can be used.
Holding down the Resonance Liberation key activates the Enhanced Resonance Liberation, starting a 7-second countdown. During this time, Augusta can perform up to 9 slashes. Although the animations may vary, the damage is the same. The 10th attack will trigger the second part of the Enhanced Resonance Liberation, playing an animation and dealing massive damage.
If you don’t perform 9 slashes, the second part will automatically trigger when the 7-second countdown ends. Alternatively, you can hold down the Resonance Liberation key during the countdown to skip it and immediately trigger the second part.
During these 7 seconds, the game enters a complete time stop. This means enemy actions, character buffs, and game timers all freeze. Even teammates are paused. However, during this time stop, you cannot switch characters or perform any other actions; you can only control Augusta.
In ToA, Augusta’s time stop will immediately refresh the next wave of enemies after defeating the first or second wave, allowing you to continue dealing damage to new enemies.
In other cases, if you defeat all enemies during the time stop, you’ll just be staring at an empty arena until the Resonance Liberation ends, and the next wave spawns.
Often, we use characters’ Resonance to sync inwith rotations, right? But Augusta’s Enhanced Resonance Liberation doesn’t allow this because it pauses teammates’ actions.
Outro Skill Buff
Now that we’ve covered the Resonance Liberation, let’s look at Augusta’s Outro Skill. The Outro Skill grants the next character a 15% all-type damage deepen for 14 seconds, but it’s the type that disappears when switching characters.
However, that’s not the most important part. The key is the second effect: if the character benefiting from this Outro Skill buff uses an Outro Skill within 14 seconds, Augusta gains 1 stack of Majesty (lighting up one blade) and 1 stack of a damage bonus buff. This buff is cleared after the second part of the ultimate is used and can be regained through the Outro Skill.
This means if you switch characters before the newly deployed character restores their Concerto Energy, the Outro buff will disappear. Without the Outro buff, that character’s Outro Skill won’t light up Augusta’s blades. The worst part is that Augusta’s rotation will be broken.
The Enhanced Resonance Skill requires the center circle to be full to activate, and 40% of that circle’s charge comes from the normal ultimate (25-second cooldown), while 20% comes from the Intro Skill. So, if you lose the blade lit by the Outro effect, you’ll have to hard-cast another Enhanced Resonance Skill.
Therefore, for teams with Augusta, once you switch from Augusta to another character via Intro Skill, do not switch characters again until you’ve fully built up Concerto Energy.
Augusta’s Rotation
Augusta enters via Intro Skill, then holds down the Basic Attack key to perform a Backstep + Spinslash. Then, use the Resonance Skill. After seeing the Enhanced Heavy Attack activate, hold down the Basic Attack key again to perform a second Enhanced Heavy Attack. Then, use the normal ultimate to fill the center circle. Finally, chain all three parts of the Enhanced Resonance Skill.
Here, it’s crucial to note: many players, once familiar with the rotation, might hold down the RB key as soon as Augusta starts descending. However, the 865% multiplier damage from the landing strike cannot be switched out from. If you hold down the RB key immediately after the third part descent, this damage will be lost. So, wait until the descent is halfway complete or, more safely, until after landing before holding down the RB key.
After activating the Enhanced Resonance Liberation, slash away, then trigger the second part of the RB. Once the animation ends, use an Echo Skill and switch out.
For players who enjoy more complex operations and maximizing damage, you can follow this sequence for burst damage: on top of the base rotation, insert two normal Heavy Attacks and one Uppercut to fully utilize the 14-second Outro effect.

Character Resonance Chain
S1: There is two effects. The first enhances the interruption resistance of the Enhanced Resonance Skill. However, since Augusta already has an interruption compensation mechanism, this effect is relatively minor.
The second effect increases the maximum stack count of Crown of Wills to 2 layers. One stack is obtained through the Outro effect, and the other is gained by entering the field via an Intro Skill. Each stack provides a 15% Electro DMG Bonus and an additional 15% Crit DMG. This results in approximately a 16% damage increase for Augusta.
S2: S2 allows Crown of Wills to provide 20% Crit Rate per stack, in addition to the DMG Bonus and Crit DMG. With 2 stacks, this totals 40% Crit Rate, which would easily overcap. Therefore, starting from S2, a Crit DMG compensation mechanism is introduced: for every 1% of Crit Rate exceeding the cap, Augusta gains 2% Crit DMG, up to a maximum of 100%. This means Crit Rate beyond 150% provides no further benefit.
As a result, from S2 onward, you can use a 4-Cost Echo with Crit DMG as the main stat. While a Crit Rate main stat is also possible, if your substats are too good, Crit Rate may still exceed 150%. S2 provides approximately a 25% damage increase for Augusta.
S3: Simply increases damage multipliers, resulting in roughly a 16% damage increase
S4 & S5: Filler upgrades: one provides an ATK bonus, and the other a shield effect.
S6: Further increases the maximum stack count of Crown of Wills to 4 layers. The Crit Rate overcap mechanism from S2 remains the same, but the cap is raised from 150% to 175%.
In addition to gaining stacks through Intro Skills, Augusta can now obtain 2 stacks of Crown of Wills by using the Enhanced Heavy Attack (Spinslash) or the Uppercut. This does not change Augusta’s core rotation.
Furthermore, using Spinslash or Uppercut will also trigger two additional instances of damage.
Overall, S6 provides approximately a 52% damage increase for Augusta.
Recommended Sequence Nodes: S0R0, S0R1, SS2R1, S6R1
Character Build
For Echoes, the setup is 3+2.
The 3-piece set is the newly released Crown of Valor, which provides a total of 30% ATK and 20% Crit DMG.
Although the buff only lasts 4 seconds, if executed well, it is possible to maintain full stacks throughout the entire rotation.
The remaining 2-piece set uses the old Void Thunder set.
For the 4-Cost Echo, use the new The False Sovereign.
At S0 and S1, choose Crit Rate as the main stat.
From S2 to S5, choose either Crit Rate or Crit DMG as the main stat.
At S6, choose Crit DMG as the main stat.
For the two 3-Cost Echoes, select Electro DMG Bonus.
Using ATK% instead would result in a significant loss—about 4%, which is nearly equivalent to one effective substat.
For the 1-Cost Echo, of course, choose ATK%.
Regarding substats:
Crit Rate/Crit DMG > Heavy Attack DMG Bonus > ATK% > Flat ATK.
For Augusta, the value of ATK% is lower than that of Heavy Attack DMG Bonus.
As for Energy Regen, 120% is sufficient.
Cost 4: 22% CRIT Rate or 44% CRIT Dmg (Depends on Augusta’s Sequence)
Cost 3: Double Electro
Cost 1: 18% ATK
Sub Stats: CRIT Rate = CRIT DMG > Heavy Attack DMG Bonus > ATK% > Flat ATK
Character Build

Main Weapon
Increases ATK by 12% / 15% / 18% / 21% / 24%. Casting Intro Skill or Resonance Skill increases Heavy Attack DMG by 20% / 25% / 30% / 35% / 40% for 15s. Obtaining Shield allows Heavy Attack DMG to ignore 7.2% / 8.4% / 9.6% / 10.8% / 12% of the target’s DEF for 7s, stacking up to 5 times. This effect is triggered once every 0.5s.
For weapons, the signature weapon is undoubtedly the best. However, Jiyan’s weapon, Verdant Summit, can achieve about 93% of the signature weapon’s performance. So if you already have Verdant Summit, you may not need to pull for the signature weapon.
The reason is that Verdant Summit’s effect, which grants 24% per stack up to 2 stacks, is not independent. This means that after reaching 2 stacks, if you use the Resonance Liberation again, the 48% bonus will simply refresh its duration.
For Augusta, both her normal Resonance Liberation and her Enhanced Resonance Liberation—including the slashes during the Enhanced version and its second stage—are all considered Resonance Liberation damage. Therefore, Augusta can maintain the full 48% Heavy Attack damage bonus throughout her entire rotation.
As for other weapons, they fall significantly short. This includes the new battle pass weapon, which has no difference with the old ones.
Character Team Comp

Main DPS – Augusta
Since Augusta primarily deals Electro Heavy Attack damage, the second slot can be filled by characters whose Outro Skill can provide Heavy Attack DMG Deepen or Electro DMG Deepen
Sub DPS – Phrolova/Yinlin/Mortefi.
Phrolova and Mortefi can provide Heavy Attack DMG Deepen to Augusta, while Yinlin can provide Electro DMG Deepen.
Healer- Shorekeeper
In addition to providing the traditional 15% All DMG Deepen like other healers, Shorekeeper’s Liberation can offer continuous healing, crit rate, and crit damage, making it very powerful. The Outro Skill’s buff allows knocked-back teammates to immediately recover from the interruption
Augusta Double DPS Team Comp:
If we set aside Outro buffs and consider forming a dual-DPS team, one option is Augusta + Jinhsi + Shorekeeper. The core of this team revolves around Jinhsi’s dual Outro Skill capabilities, allowing both Augusta and Jinhsi to easily benefit from Shorekeeper’s golden Stellarealm. Additionally, Jinhsi’s damage burst can fully utilize Augusta’s Outro Skill’s buff, which provides a 15% all-type DMG Deepen.
Other DPS characters face a challenge: Augusta’s Outro skill restricts the next character from switching out until their Concerto Energy is fully charged. If this rule is broken, Augusta’s rotation will be disrupted.
With the exception of Jinhsi, most other characters cannot quickly recharge their Concerto Energy after dealing their damage and triggering their Outro effect. This forces a choice: either sacrifice Augusta’s Outro DMG Deepen and carefully sequence rotations so all damage fits within the golden Stellarealm, or have Augusta benefit from the purple Stellarealm while the other DPS enjoys the golden Stellarealm and Augusta’s Outro Skill buff.
Considering these factors, Jinhsi emerges as a particularly strong teammate for Augusta.
